Hi Folks. I am pleased to report our branch AGM went very smoothly and was very well attended. The club officers remain the same with El Presidente Miguel Bikey staying in the chair, Richie doing the grand job on secretarial front with a little help from Em, and Eric keeping a tight rein on the Club's finances. He was pleased to report our club funds are looking very healthy. Clive will continue to lead us into the unknown with the ride outs, Rod will make sure we don't go hungry with plenty of social events and I for my sins have been told to keep the club pencil and keep on scribbling, cheers for that.
In Richie's report he said the Branch's membership had increased by 50% we are now up to 64 members. We think some of that was down to our fantastic branch website. What a sterling job Airbrush Andy has done. Eric said our branch has never been so busy with all the ride outs and social events during the year, you only have to look at our list of events on the website to see what we have achieved. Well done to Clive and Rod on that.
Also well done Rod on getting a reduction on the portaloo hire price for the rally and coming up with the branch subsidising the Xmas meal, passing on the savings to the members (sounds like an ad for the co-op, next we will be saying use your membership card and receive double discount).
We had another new member who joined us for the AGM, welcome to Tony from Groombridge, hope to see you again soon.
It was arranged that we would be having a rally meeting at the Robin Hood on 10th February. It was suggested it to be held at the Black Horse but someone grumbled about the beer quality (who could have that been, I wonder?) Must just say congratulations to the Robin Hood who are listed in the 2010 Good Beer Guide, their reward for their good beer choice and quality, may it continue.
The 2010 AGM has been pencilled in for November 10th, so as this is generally the time of year you start your new diary, you can put it in.
Talking of 2010, we as a branch will be celebrating something special, It's the Rother Branch's 30th year. We will be celebrating this at the Rabbit Rally , July 9th, 10th, 11th so if any of you have got any ideas on how we can make this years rally even better, come along to the meeting on 10th February.
Several Rotherites enjoyed themselves at my firework party on Sunday 7th November. What was supposed to be just a few family and friends turned out to be over 60 people. Thank you to my mate Phil for spending the evening cooking the BBQ. Don't think anyone went home hungry - well if they did it's their own fault.
By the time you read this we would have had our Branch Xmas meal at the Robin. As this went to press we had about 30 booked for it, no doubt it was another splendid evening.
You're going to get this before Christmas so may I take this opportunity in wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with lots of safe motorcycling and may that grass grow long and luscious in the new year.
