Hi Folks, Well what have we been doing in Rotherland
The following week on the Wednesday evening 12 of us had a very enjoyable night at Azur's at The Marina Pavilion in St. Leonards-on-Sea. After a bit of a mix up about our booking they certainly looked after us well; we had our own room downstairs, our own waiters and even our own bar, and a couple of complimentary bottles of wine, no complaints especially as it was half price offer 3 courses for under £9. Bargain. Thanks Jayne for arranging that one. Some of us were planning to attend the MCN London Motorcycle Show at the end of January, and hopefully picked up a few bargains. It looks like the Club will have a good turn out at the Bonneville Birthday celebrations in August. Many will be camping but if your not into that then you can get some good deals on the internet by booking early wit Travelodge etc. Also I must say I ordered some of the Bonneville Celebration T-shirt online in December; they arrived before Xmas, good quality, good price. Might even order some more, you can never have too many T-shirts, I think. Mandy might disagree with me on that one.
Before that one in August some of the club are planning to do the 2009 Dragon Raid with the RAT's 24th-26th April. From previous accounts it's usually a very good weekend. Also talking of the RAT's a few of us will be doing the 3rd annual RAT bash in Cumbria on 19th-22nd June. I am looking forward to a ride around the lakes on the Saturday, should be good, just need decent weather. As I mentioned last time some of the branch plan to go to the Custom Motor Show in Farnborough on 3rd-5th April.
Depending when you get this the Branch is or was having a Black Horse meeting on 18th February, a chance for the club to discuss forthcoming activities, etc. and fill up the club's calendar with what we will be up to in the months ahead. Lots of biking, I hope. Two of the club's hardened bikers (well, either hardened or bloody mad) Bob and BSA Matt were off to Wales in February for the annual Dragon Rally. I'll be interested to hear how they got on once they have thawed out; apparently they usually have a good time.
The date for the Worlds End MCC 8th Short Weekend Rally is May 8th-10th at the Sun & Anchor, Steeple, Essex. For £10 a ticket contact Stigg - 07850 737 970 or Noddy - 07901 571 101 or www.wemcc.org. Money raised at the rally goes to Essex Air Ambulance. We usually have a good group of us attend that one.
This next bit is to get Tiny off my back. I forgot to mention back in September that Chris and Tiny attended the Low Rally, but due to Tiny having his knee op they had to take the car. Poor old b***er could not sleep in the tent 'cos he could not get down on the ground, so the plan was to sleep in the car, on a blow-up, but it had a dodgy valve and kept on deflating all night. The poor old chap had to keep blowing it back up. What bad luck! Well done for keeping your rally attendance intact (31yrs). He can be a grumpy old b***er at the best of times, can you imagine. Keep smiling Chris.
Bit more on Tiny; he told me to mention the Tinkers Lane Steam Fayre (they could have called it Tiny Tinkers... Sorry) at Hadlow Down near Heathfield. Tiny might be driving one of the steam trains himself. Loads of steam engines on show, etc. beer tent too. On behalf of the Branch I would like to welcome another new member, Andy from Beckley. We did explain to him that we don't see Tiny every week.
A reminder that this years Rabbit Rally is booked for 10th-12th July. Well, that's about it for this one; if any of you want me to report on anything, you got to let me know. And remember, the grass may be greener on the other side (Bob 'n' Matt, if it's white when you get out of your tent its snow) but its just as hard to cut.
