Hi folks, we had been talking about it all year and now its been and gone, what a great event it was too, The Bonneville 50th birthday bash. The Rother branch had well over twenty of us in attendance, some for the whole weekend and some for part of it. We were in the middle of the family holiday and managed to get there for the Saturday, some of the club who rode up on the Friday got caught in some very heavy showers which also included hail, but after that the weather remained good for the rest of the weekend, it was a great venue and well organised, well done to those TOMCC members who were involved in making it happen.
Before that on the 29th July the clubs planned ride out to the Swan at Wittersham was changed to a ride out to another popular Camra listed pub the White Hart at Newenden. The change had nothing to do with the rumour of a free barrel off beer on offer that night at the White Hart did it ? the pub was celebrating yet another Camra award for its well kept ales.
On Saturday 8th August Matt, Debbie, Bob and his mate Alf and myself with some of my family had an enjoyable evening over at the Arlington Stadium watching the 2009 Elite League Pairs speedway meeting. It would have been even more enjoyable had one of the Eastbourne riders Lewis Bridger not got over taken on the last lap of the final by Poole`s Hans Andersen to give the Trophy to Poole, never mind being a Eastbourne Eagle fan over the years I have got use to the saying "you cant win them all" and we don’t. We finished off the evening in the Dripping Spring in St Leonards. As this report goes to press, Clive was planning a Mystery ride out on 26th August which was going to include a Fish n chip shop. And before you get this report there was a planned ride out on 9th September to the Blackboys.
Don’t forget if you have any ideas about any social events the club could do have a chat with Rod.
We have another two new members of the branch welcome to Alan and Pauline,
That’s it for this one as I have to continue with my summer holidays.
Safe riding.
