Branch Report
September 2009
(as seen in Nacelle)

Hi Folks,
Well the Rabbit Rally has been and gone, and I'm pleased to report that this year's Rally was the best yet, with nearly one hundred campers over the weekend. The weather was fair, a bit damp Saturday evening making it rather cosy in the marquee listening to the band. Both bands were good and the raffle and BBQ were both very successful.
When we arrived on the Thursday evening to help with the rally preparation we were pleased to see a group of about ten bikers from Holland. They had visited our rally back in 1999 and decided to come over again. It was ironic that Clive's ride out on the Saturday was to Cranbrook Union Windmill where we had a very interesting guided tour. (Rumours has it if they come over next year Clive is going to take them to the clog factory). One of them had his primary chain snap on his Matchless just as he arrived to the rally site. Luckily BSA Matt came to the rescue and able to supply him with another one. He showed his appreciation by presenting Matt with a silver horse shoe. Matt said the name of the Dutch club was "O Vet", named after thick grease.
The best club turn out of the rally went to World's End MCC (at least they were able to take the trophy home with them this time). They also took the longest distance female trophy back with them; well done, Toni. The longest distance male was Be Niemeyer from Blyham, Netherlands, and the best bike went to a Dutch 3TA, well used, modified and nice condition. The Rother Branch Chairman's Trophy was awarded to Airbrush Andy for his outstanding work in getting our club's website up and running, and what a fabulous job he has done. If you have yet to visit it, it's - www.rothertriumphmcc.co.uk -. A well deserved winner, well done mate. Speaking to some of the people at the rally they said they only heard of the rally through the website, so it works.
It was good to see so many club members helping over the whole weekend. We had well over twenty of us helping erect the marquee on he Wednesday evening. I can remember when we used to have half that number . It makes it so much more enjoyable and easier having so many active members; well done all those who contributed in our success weekend.
That’s enough of the rally, what else have we done. On 24th June twelve of us paid the Medway Branch a visit, we were made very welcome, good to see them again and look forward to the next time. Some of our members made it over to Hamstreet on 19th July for the Bike Jumble and Classic Bike Show and met up with some of the Medway Branch. By now I think our members have given their bikes their final polish ready for the Bonneville Birthday Bash. It looks like its going to be a good turnout, with many members wives joining us too.
On 26th August Clive is taking us on a mystery run, meeting 7:30 Johns Cross, and we have a club run to Blackboys on 9th September, meeting at the same time and place. The weekend before Blackboys run some of the Branch are planning to attend the I.O.W British Bike Rally. Good to see Alex on a decent bike , Bob's got his old Daytona up and running for Alex to use.
Well that's it for this one.
Ride safe
